I am enjoying the chance to see what I can do with the available technology in my classrooms. I find it frustrating, though, that sometimes the computer cart is not available when I would like to use it. Although I can always just use chalk and a chalkboard or display something on the screen from my computer, I think that the student computers help them stay engaged in learning to a greater degree. Their learning in the classroom becomes active rather than passive.
I am excited to hear that the mobile carts are in high demand. This is perhaps an indication that our department is integrating digital composition into the classrooms already. Great! Not having any classes in these wired rooms, I haven't use them here but have used them at my previous school with much success and much less demand from others. When the carts are not available, do you ever reserve a computer lab on campus? If not, why not? What do the carts offer that a lab does not? Just curious.
